¡Atraemos la diversión con el poder del imán y hacemos girar al mundo!
In our children’s early school years, mathematical problem solving is not only an essential skill but also a gateway to the development of critical thinking. At Imanix, with our playful and colorful approach, we present ourselves as a tool to introduce your children to the world of mathematics in a fun and stimulating way.
What is problem solving in mathematics?
Let’s start by understanding that solving mathematical problems is much more than doing calculations; it involves our children being able to read and understand the problem, identifying the information they are given, and applying mathematical operations to find a solution. With this in mind, Imanix comes in as an aid to children in visualizing these problems through blocks and magnetic figures that they can physically manipulate, which facilitates a deeper and more natural understanding of mathematical concepts.
Benefits of problem-solving learning
Now that we know what problem solving is, we’ll tell you why using Imanix in teaching mathematics can help with learning, not only by making numbers come alive, but also by allowing:
- Improve counting and number recognition skills, as we will show you later in our parking lot activities, where every space is an opportunity to practice.
- Promotes critical thinking and logic, essential for cognitive development.
- It increases motivation and commitment, as learning by playing is a form of education that never feels like an obligation.
Mathematical problem solving activities for children with Imanix
You are probably wondering: How can I use Imanix toys in problem solving learning? Here is an example that you can play with your child:
1. Car parking
In this activity, we will use the Imanix blocks to build a car parking lot. To do this, we must write a number in the last block of each column with a marker. This will determine the total number of cars that can be parked in each space, as shown in the image below.
Once we have our parking lot ready, we must “park” the correct number of cars in each spot, practicing both numerical reading and counting.
We can make different variations of this game, either changing numbers for mathematical operations, or even incorporating other concepts such as colors or asking for fractions or other associated terms.
We invite you to see our collection of downloadable material for more similar activities.
Problem solving exercises
We invite you as a parent and/or educator to look for different problems, such as addition, subtraction, fractions or others, that children must solve using Imanix blocks. The possibilities for creating play and learning moments with Imanix are many. For example, if we build two towers of different heights, how many blocks do we need to add to the shorter tower to equal the taller one?
And this is just the beginning, in addition to the examples mentioned above, Imanix blocks can be used to teach patterns, color and shape classification, and even basic geometry principles. These activities are not only educational but also extremely fun and participatory.
Let’s not stop playing and learning
Imanix, in addition to being a game, is an educational tool that brings with it endless opportunities to explore the world of mathematics, and many others, in a way that is understandable and engaging for children. Through play, we foster a solid foundation in different areas that children will carry with them as they progress through their education.
Let’s transform learning and offer children an unparalleled educational experience. Explore today and see how we can help in the learning journey for your child!
